Spiritual Counseling

"The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious."
 -- Albert Einstein
Spiritual counseling is a great resource for people who:
  • Want help formulating a belief system that encompasses the truth of who you are.
  • Wish to bring more spiritual energy, joy, and aliveness to life.
  • Feel wounded or confused by past religious experience and are ready to explore new belief systems.
  • Desire a more meaningful and consistent presence of spirituality in life.
  • Want to explore the energizing connection between spirituality and eros.
  • Wonder about the connection between creativity and spirituality.

Knowing how to create a balanced spiritual life is a gift. Much like food, we need different kinds of spiritual nutrients to maintain a balanced diet. Spiritual counseling offers support for people who are who are hungry for a life that is vibrant, engaging, and fulfilling.

I help you get clear on your spiritual priorities in terms of basic beliefs. I can also help you access connection to energy that is soulful and invigorating.

We might remember a certain lightness of being from earlier in our life, but we have no idea how to get back there. Whether we belong to a church, have a meditation practice, read different teachings, or have no organized approach -- it takes commitment, discipline, and courage to keep spiritual energy flowing in our lives.

I like to think that each of us is fulfilling our destiny to develop our own personal theology that is uniquely ours. Like artists and writers, we borrow spiritually from all traditions that have preceded us and we participate in evolution by deriving our own awareness of what excites our souls. Whether it’s music, art, nature, community, family, education, sports, travel, expressing ourselves erotically, or tapping into our suffering, experiencing life is a spiritual expression that guides, inspires or disturbs others. Shakespeare said “All the world’s a stage,” and it’s also true that “All the world’s an altar.” Our ability to perceive and breathe into that is mostly about our capacity to determine what is holy for us.

I help clients tune into their sense of how they relate to the sacredness of life. If we can more fully embrace the holiness of our bodies, we then have a clearer understanding of why and how to treat ourselves with the kind of loving care that promotes our personal health and well-being. As our self-acceptance becomes more unconditional and conscious, we have the capacity to shift how we treat others in our lives. Ultimately we are being called to respect and cherish all of life. Sacred and holy do not mean sanctimonious and rigid. Rather we are learning how to honor a kind of flow that encompasses the allness of life, the dark and scary places, the raw and ragged, as well as the exquisitely simple and wildly complicated. I welcome clients who are at all levels of their spiritual development.
